Rahul’s successful partnership with fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played a key role in India’s dominant 295-run victory in the first Test on November 22 against Australia.
His injury history has been a cause for concern, having faced several setbacks throughout his career.
Initially, he was expected to be sidelined for the ongoing series, but his position was strengthened due to captain Rohit Sharma’s absence in the first Test.
After his standout performance in the first match, Rahul’s consistency earned him a permanent place at the top of the order, with Rohit Sharma being moved to the middle order for the first time since 2019 to accommodate him.
The in-form batsman is currently India’s second highest run-getter in the Pink Ball Test.
His impressive knock of 84 runs in the first innings of India’s third Test further highlighted his form.
