KARACHI: Waseem Shinwari’s five-wicket haul in the second innings took DHA Dabangs to an innings and one-run victory over North Nawab in the 10th match of the 4th season of the Karachi Tape Ball Premier League (KTPL) here at the Moin Khan Academy on Thursday -fair .
Put first at bat, the Nawab could only score 72 for the loss of seven wickets in his first innings despite captain Haris Ali Khan’s half-century.
The opening batsman fought a lonely battle for the Nawab in the first innings as he top-scored with a 21-ball 52, laced with three fours and six sixes.
Apart from him, none of the Nawab’s batsmen managed to accumulate double figures, with the next best score being a run-a-ball six by batsman Samad Hameed.
For the Dabangs, Salman Khan Sallu and Rana Mohsin took three wickets each while Waseem took a scalp.
In reply, captain Taimoor Mirza’s sensational half-century propelled the Dabangs to post a massive total of 121/2 and secure a 49-run lead.
Mirza hit seven fours and eight sixes on his way to the top score for the Dabangs with a 24-ball 85.
He was supported by batsman Saqib Lefti who hit 23 off 10 balls with the help of a four and three sixes.
Trailing by 49 runs, the Nawab could only score 48 in total and thus succumbed to a crushing defeat.
Opening batsman Samad remained the Nawab’s top scorer in the second innings, scoring 15 off 10, while Irfan Nazir made a five-ball 12.
Waseem Shinwari was the standout bowler for the Dabangs in the second innings as he claimed five wickets for just 15 runs in his quota of two overs, while Salman struck three times.
The victory lifted DHA Dabangs to fourth position in the KTPL Season 4 standings with two points from three matches, while North Nawab slipped to fifth place, boasting a similar record.
