JOHANNESBURG: The draw for the third and final ODI between Pakistan and South Africa has been postponed due to persistent rain.
Continuous drizzle since last night has left playing conditions soggy, with forecasters predicting more rain to follow.
Pakistan lead the three-match series 2-0, having secured an 81-run victory in the second ODI.
The Men in Green registered 329 runs on the scoreboard and bowled out the Proteas for 248 in the chase.
Heinrich Klaasen top-scored for South Africa with 97, while Shaheen Shah Afridi led Pakistan’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 4/47, supported by 3/37 from Naseem Shah.
Earlier, Pakistan’s batting struggled initially when Abdullah Shafique fell for a duck.
However, a 115-run partnership between captain Babar Azam (52) and Mohammad Rizwan (54) steadied the innings.
Later, Babar added a fluent 73 off 95 deliveries, while Rizwan top-scored with 80 off 82 balls, hitting 10 boundaries, including three sixes.
Kamran Ghulam, batting at number six, launched a late attack, hitting 63 runs off just 32 balls, including four fours and five sixes. His explosive knock propelled Pakistan to a formidable total.
This series marks Mohammad Rizwan’s third consecutive ODI series victory as captain of Pakistan.
He previously led his team to victories against Australia and Zimbabwe, with the victory against Australia breaking a two-decade drought on his soil.
