LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday rewarded the men’s national blind cricket team with a cash prize of PKR 10 million as they won their maiden T20 World Cup title in the beginning of this week.
According to the details, the PCB chairman invited the blind cricket team along with Pakistan Blind Cricket Board (PBCC) officials to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) here and presented them with an award in cash.
Naqvi handed over a check of PKR 10 million to the national team and also gave a stipend of 20 million to the PBCC and praised the players for their historic performance in the tournament.
“Your triumph is Pakistan’s victory. You made Pakistan proud by winning the T20 World Cup. Winning the Blind Cricket World Cup has brought immense joy to the country,” Naqvi praised the blind cricket team in his speech.
“The blind players on the cricket team are very important to us. We will support them and ensure that we leave no stone unturned to meet their needs,” he added.
PBCC Chairman Syed Sultan Shah, in response, expressed gratitude to Naqvi for recognizing the services of the national cricket team for the blind.
“We would like to thank PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi for supporting the blind cricket team,” Shah said.
Pakistan blind cricket team captain Nisar Ali echoed Shah’s comments and said the cricket board has always been very supportive of his team.
“You always took care of us. You gave us respect. Thank you very much,” Nisar told Naqvi.
For the unversed, Pakistan overcame Bangladesh in the final on Tuesday to win their first Blind T20 World Cup title.
