KARACHI: Indian media has criticized the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for accepting Pakistan’s demands to resolve the Champions Trophy issue.
On Thursday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed that the “fusion formula”, proposed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be applied in the upcoming mega events in India and Pakistan over the next three years.
As proposed by the PCB, the “merger formula” will see Pakistan and India play ICC event matches, organized by each other, at a neutral venue.
Furthermore, the ICC, in its press release, also discussed the PCB’s proposed triple series involving India and Pakistan.
The two main events generated controversy in India. Several Indian media outlets heavily criticized the BCCI and also questioned the ICC’s role in the matter.
“Who is the ICC to say it has no objection to a tri-nation series? These decisions rest with the cricket boards, not the ICC,” Indian media argued.
The media also claimed that the BCCI undermined the Indian government’s position.
“Has the Indian government changed its position? If not, why couldn’t the BCCI defend him?” media outlets questioned.
“The PCB’s demands were accepted and resulted in significant gains”, reiterated the vehicles.
