LAHORE: Right-arm Test pacer Hasan Ali was among the four local players promoted to the platinum category for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), scheduled to be held in the April-May window next year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday announced the category renewals of 87 local players for the next edition of the premier league, which featured Karachi Kings’ Hasan, alongside Quetta Gladiators’ Mohammad Amir, Peshawar Zalmi’s Saim Ayub and Usama from Multan Sultans. Mir being promoted to the maximum category.

The four players join Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan Naseem Shah (Islamabad United), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans), Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), who have all been kept in the premium category.

The Diamond category features a total of 16 players including former Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, veteran Shoaib Malik and Test captain Shan Masood.

The Gold category is made up of 30 local players, seven from Zalmi, five each from the Kings, Qalandars and Gladiators, while the United and Sultans contribute four each.

Meanwhile, a total of 12 players are selected in the Emerging category, including young pacers Ubaid Shah and Hunain Shah.

Notably, the registration window for foreign players to register for PSL 10, along with the trade window, opened last week, while the process of demotion and retention of players will be done during this month.

It is worth remembering that the player draft for PSL 10 will take place on January 11, 2025, with the location and time yet to be announced.
