Faheem Ashraf ‘focused’ on domestic cricket to return to national team

RAWALPINDI: All-rounder Faheem Ashraf on Friday shared that he is focused on returning to the national team by delivering stellar performances in national tournaments.

Faheem, who captains the Dolphins in the current Champions T20 Cup, has been out of the national team since 2023, and his most recent appearance for the Green Shirts was the first Test of the three-match away series against Australia in December this year. past.

The all-rounder, however, is determined to have notable performances on the domestic circuit while he is away from the national team.

“As a cricketer, I try to play and perform in whatever cricket I can get while I am away from the (national) team. Be it league cricket or domestic, I try to do my best,” Faheem said.

“I have been playing domestic cricket since the Champions (One-Day) Cup and I am trying to give the best for my team and myself,” he added.

The all-rounder also highlighted the importance of red-ball cricket, saying it helps both batsmen and bowlers improve their respective techniques.

“Playing red-ball cricket helps improve batsmen’s technique while also helping bowlers improve their line, length and stamina.

“It is true that our players are more focused on white-ball cricket, but if we focus on red-ball cricket, we will also improve in One-Day and T20s.

For newcomers, the Faheem Ashraf-led Dolphins are going through a tough time in the T20 Champions Cup as the team is yet to register their first win after competing in four matches.
