RAWALPINDI: Dolphins middle-order batsman Mohammad Suleman on Sunday expressed his determination to earn his maiden Pakistan call-up with his performance in the T20 Champions Cup.
Suleman, in an exclusive interview with Geographic Newsrevealed his plans to be called up to the national team for the first time, concluding this season on a stellar note.
“Look, all a player can do is perform in any condition and situation, regardless of the format, be it white ball or red ball,” Suleman said.
“When a player starts his cricket career, his ultimate goal is to represent his country. My goal is the same.
“This season is going well for me and I hope to end it on a good note and put in a performance that can earn me a place in the Pakistan squad.”
The right-handed batsman also cited Younis Khan and Babar Azam as his inspirations, stating that he tries to learn how to construct innings by watching the two established batsmen.
“When I started, I followed Younis Khan a lot because of his fight. He scored 10,000 runs in first class and after Babar Azam. I watch him how he constructs his innings and his achievements give me inspiration,” Suleman said.
When asked to choose a shot between Younis’s sweep and Babar’s cover shot, Suleman rated both equally, highlighting his fondness for playing the sweep.
“Both because I like playing sweep as well. But Babar Azam is a versatile batsman, he has a wide range of pitches, so I like to learn by watching him bat,” concluded Suleman.
For the unversed, Mohammad Suleman’s Dolphins got off to an unwelcome start to the T20 Champions Cup as they suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of the Panthers in their campaign opener.
