The 13th edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) will take place from August 14 to September 21, 2025, as confirmed by Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the CPL on Friday.

In a statement, the CPL assured fans that there will be no clash with West Indies international matches, ensuring the tournament’s uninterrupted schedule.

CPL CEO Pete Russell expressed excitement about the upcoming season.

“We are pleased to have once again worked with Cricket West Indies to find a window that allows the best players from across the region to participate in the CPL,” said Russell.

“The 2024 season was our most successful to date and we look forward to continuing that success in 2025,” he added.

The format of the tournament will remain the same as previous editions, with 30 championship stage matches between six teams.

This will be followed by four exciting playoff games: the knockout round, two qualifiers and the grand final.

St Lucia Kings, the defending champions, will face the Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals, Trinbago Knight Riders, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

The Falcons will replace the Jamaica Tallawahs, who were released ahead of the 2024 season.

Lynford Inverary, Acting CEO and COO of CWI, highlighted the importance of the CPL in the Caribbean cricket scene.

“While the CWI continues to play a leading role in shaping our overall cricket calendar, the CPL continues to be a key part of our cricket ecosystem, playing an important role in developing and promoting the game across the Caribbean.”

Details on locations, games and team rosters will be released at a later date, with a draft and round of pre-draft signings expected as teams begin finalizing their rosters for the season.

It is pertinent to mention that the inaugural edition of the CPL took place in 2013, with the Jamaica Tallawahs emerging as champions after defeating the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the final.

The 2024 edition was won by the St Lucia Kings, who triumphed over the Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The Trinbago Knight Riders have won the most titles, securing four championships, while the Guyana Amazon Warriors have reached the final seven times, winning the tournament once.
