JOHANNESBURG: The Pakistan cricket team has departed Johannesburg for Cape Town for the upcoming One-Day International (ODI) series against South Africa, scheduled for December 17-22.
After a 2-0 defeat in the T20I series to the Proteas, the men in green are set to continue their winning streak in the ODI format.
The first T20I, held at Kingsmead, saw South Africa win by 11 runs.
The hosts posted a challenging total of 183/9, driven by explosive strikes from George Linde and David Miller.
Despite a solid response, Pakistan fell short in the pursuit.
Aiming to level the series, the team led by Mohammad Rizwan failed again, this time defending the target in the second T20I.
Set to chase 207, the home side claimed victory through Rassie van der Dussen, who hit a six off Abbas Afridi in the third shot of the final.
However, the third and final T20I between the two teams at the Wanderers Stadium was abandoned due to persistent rain, giving the Proteas a 2-0 series victory.
The ODI series is scheduled to take place in Paarl, Cape Town and Johannesburg.
Pakistani T20I-bound players including Abbas Afridi, Jahandad Khan and Omair bin Yousaf are set to leave for Pakistan via Dubai this evening.
