RAWALPINDI: A solid bowling performance from the Stallions earned them a comeback after their last defeat in the T20 Champions Cup here at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.
Usman Tariq, the Stallions’ most economical bowler against the Dolphins, took an important wicket of the well-placed Sahibzada Farhan to bring his team back while defending 190.
When Farhan and Qasim Akram put together a 46-run partnership, the Dolphins were in complete control at one point. But Usman removed Farhan in the 13th over to give the Stallions a comeback in the game. Farhan managed to score 59, including six boundaries and two maximums.
Later, Mohammad Ali joined Usman in removing another batsman Qasim who contributed a worthy 37 runs. Usman and Hussain Talat took two wickets in quick succession to dent the Dolphins advance.
However, captain Faheem held out for a bit, scoring 25 runs before being unlucky enough to be run out.
Mehran Mumtaz, who was playing again, also took two wickets for the Stallions.
Ubaid Shah, the younger brother of Hunain Shah, defended 14 runs in the final over to give the Stallions a 5-run victory. It was the Garanhões’ third victory in the tournament.
After being batted first, the Stallions scored 190 runs. Yasir Khan and young Maaz Sadaqat provided a steady start for their team with an opening stand of 38 runs.
Faheem was the first to score for the Dolphins as Maaz, the star of the previous match, left after scoring 23 off 16.
Hussain (57*) and Mohammad Mohsin (55) led the Stallions to a total of 19 runs. Both won 109 races together for their team.
For the Dolphins, Mohammad Rameez Jr took two wickets while Faheem took one.
