KARACHI: The much-awaited player draft for the upcoming 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is likely to be held in Gwadar, Balochistan.
The speculation arose when PSL CEO Salman Naseer shared a photo of Gwadar beach on his social media, captioned with a thinking face emoji.
According to sources, Gwadar is being considered to host the next player recruitment as part of the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) plans to expand the premier league beyond the four major cities – Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan.
However, the official announcement regarding the location of the players’ draft should be made within the next 24 hours.
It is worth remembering that the registration window for foreign players to offer their availability for PSL 10 has now opened.
Whereas, the cricket board also announced the category renewals of 87 local players for the next edition of the premier league, which featured Hasan Ali of Karachi Kings, alongside Mohammad Amir of Quetta Gladiators, Saim Ayub of Peshawar Zalmi and Usama Mir of Multan Sultans being promoted to platinum category.
The four players join Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan Naseem Shah (Islamabad United), Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Shaheen Shah Afridi (Lahore Qalandars), Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Rizwan (Multan Sultans), Babar Azam (Peshawar Zalmi), who have all been kept in the premium category.
The Diamond category features a total of 16 players including former Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, veteran Shoaib Malik and Test captain Shan Masood.
It is worth remembering that the player draft for PSL 10 will take place on January 11, 2025.
